CLUB NIX 161: Why Some Music Stays

Every DJ loves discovering new music.

I do too.

Every week brings new releases, new artists and new tracks competing for attention. Most of them arrive, make a brief impression and disappear just as quickly.

But every now and then, a record stays.

Not because it's louder.

Not because it's bigger.

Because it means something.

CLUB NIX 161 is built around that idea.

This mix brings together progressive house, melodic techno and underground electronic music that reveal themselves over time. Records that don't rely on shock value or instant gratification. Records that earn their place.

The journey begins with deeper cuts from HotLap, Liva K and Brunello before gradually moving into more hypnotic territory through Prospa, LUCA SKETTI and Landau. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced. The music unfolds naturally, allowing each track the space to breathe.

That's something I've always loved about great dancefloors.

The best moments rarely announce themselves.

They happen gradually.

A groove settles in. Conversations fade away. People stop looking around the room and start getting lost in the music.

Before anyone notices, something has changed.

Not because of one huge track.

Because of the journey.

That feeling runs throughout this mix.

Artists like Joris Voorn, Korolova, Township Rebellion, TH;EN, Massano and Silver Panda understand the power of tension and atmosphere. Their music doesn't chase attention. It creates momentum. The kind that slowly pulls a room together and keeps it moving.

Maybe that's why progressive house and melodic techno continue to resonate so strongly.

They trust the listener.

They don't rush to the destination.

They make the journey worthwhile.

The final track in this episode is STAY, taken from my solo project NØRLEND.

It felt like the right way to end this mix.

The title says everything.

The best music doesn't always make the biggest first impression.

Sometimes it simply stays with you.

Not for a night.

For weeks.

For years.

Sometimes even longer.
